Starting with the Limiteds...

You were allowed 7 L titles and surprisingly, there wasn't much bunching up of these around a single release date. The two best  came fairly early but the third best was right at the end and the 4th dropped in the middle. They also ran the gamut in prices from one of the least expensive (under $4m) to the most ($14.75m).

1. Lady Bird
- Cost $3.75m
- Gross $38.29m
- ROFP 10.21

2. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
- Cost $6.75m
- Gross $43.47m
- ROFP 6.44

3. Molly's Game
- Cost $9.5m
- Gross $45.4m
- ROFP 4.78

4. The Disaster Artist
- Cost $8.25m
- Gross $33.93m
- ROFP 4.11

5. The Shape Of Water
- Cost $7.75m
- Gross $30.2m
- ROFP 3.90

6. The Post
- Cost $11m
- Gross $32.08m
- ROFP 2.92

7. Tiger Zinda Hai
- Cost $14.25m
- Gross $37.89m
- ROFP 2.66

Note: While I, Tonya and The Man Who Invented Christmas had a higher ROFPs, you would have made over $40m more for your studio going with The Post and Tiger. Given the average spec worth gain in the top 10 was north of $83m and there weren't better places to park your cash in other categories, it would be more beneficial to your studio to chase the gross rather than the ROFP.

This line-up would've cost your final studio a total of $61.75m and generated a total of $259.26m in gross.

I didn't see a studio with all 7 correct but there were several with 6 of these.

I had 5 of the 7.  I didn't have The Shape of Water or Tiger.  In the end. I only had enough funds for either Tiger or The Post but not both.  I knew Tiger would do well but with The Post I had enough funds for All the Money in the World.  I didn't plan on owning All the Money in the World in my final port especially with the Dec. 25 opening but decided to go for the owning 2 movies over just 1 which ended up being the right decision in terms of final gross.

Except for rare occasions, for over a decade I more often than not end up right around 20.  Damn it.

So now, the Sleepers!

This is where navigating the correct path was quite tricky as there were only two real duds and they both came right at the end of the game but there were quite a few seemingly enticing titles that it actually turns out would best have been avoided. In total, the perfect studio should've only invested in 5 sleepers, all of which came in above the 2.0 ROFP ideal.

1. Wonder
- Cost $14.5m
- Gross $72.32m
- ROFP 4.99

2. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
- Cost $33.5m
- Gross $158.81m
- ROFP 4.74

3. Daddy's Home 2
- Cost $23.75m
- Gross $62.7m
- ROFP 2.64

4. Murder on the Orient Express
- Cost $24.25m
- Gross $61.22m
- ROFP 2.52

5. A Bad Moms Christmas
- Cost $16.25m
- Gross $35.23m
- ROFP 2.17

This line-up would've cost your final studio a total of $112.25m and generated a total of $390.28m in gross.

Second place finisher Davix (Dirk Diggler) was the only studio to have the correct 5... but he also had one of the ones to avoid.

Sleepers is where I lost the game. If I would have kept either Daddy 2 or Orient Express on that weekend, I may have been able to win. That being said, I would have had less money to spec with, so it may not have been that simple after all.

Bs & Cs...

There was one obvious Blockbuster choice and three Clearance titles that were clearly above the rest. But at first glance, I thought only one Blockbuster was actually worth it given the decent showing from the couple Sleepers that were good but not great buys. When adding them up, though it turned out that having a second B and some very sub-par Cs netted a slightly better gross for your studio.

1. The Greatest Showman
- Cost $15.75m
- Gross $49.09m
- ROFP 3.12

2. The Star
- Cost $8.5m
- Gross $23.46m
- ROFP 2.76

3. All The Money In The World
- Cost $5.5m
- Gross $13.35m
- ROFP 2.43

4. Thank You For Your Service
- Cost $6m
- Gross $6.88m
- ROFP 1.15

5. Last Flag Flying
- Cost $0.75m
- Gross $0.33m
- ROFP .44

1. Thor: Ragnarok
- Cost $105.5m
- Gross $201.49m
- ROFP 1.91

2. Coco
- Cost $68.75m
- Gross $118.89m
- ROFP 1.72

The combination of Coco, Service and Flag would've cost your studio $75.5m and netted you $126.10m in total grosses. This both edges out the combination of sleeper titles which includes Jigsaw, Ferdinand & Pitch Perfect 3 and keeps you under the average spec worth of the top 10. The sleepers would've cost $76.75m together with a gross of $123.39m.

The average spec worth of the top 10 was $385.33m. The total cost of all the perfect studio films was $384.75m (the sleeper combo would have gone above that average and netted ~$3m less in gross).

The total gross for the perfect studio would have been $1063.03m with an ROFP of 2.76. The leaders in those two categories were not all that far off - though magicdreamer had $10m more to play with and Burnitdown had $45m less in spec worth than the average.

Thanks for playing everyone and congrats to the winners! I'm going away shortly for the weekend but I will be in contact with the winners early next week to sort out the prizes.

Cheers-
Keith
