The Summer Box Office Challenge is Finally Here

I have upped the starting amount from $300 million to 350, and there are no category minimums.

NOTE: I'm looking for someone to hep me administer this summer game. I'm going to be gone for about 3 weeks this summer and it's going to be difficult for me to get the changes done in a timely fashion. If anyone is interested send me a PM or email me at ez@ez1productions.com.

Woohoo!

As of now, taking a risk, not buying ANY of the blockbusters.

Maybe not that risky... The Blockbusters are not a sure thing this time. A lot of interesting looking sleepers and clearance titles.

Under Box Office you've got the % owned of ALL the titles visible - not just the ones off the market.

I could have used a reminder email the game was starting.   Sad

Is the Sell All feature not working for anyone else?

I meant closer to the first price change/opening weekend.  No biggie, just missed filling out my lineup for the first price change and betting the first showdown.

Okay, so 42%+ kept Deadpool 2 and I did not.  We'll see if that gamble works out for me.  I did keep both Book Club and Show Dogs.  Book Club because it will excellently counter-program the next couple weeks, and Show Dogs because it's cheap and there has been NOTHING for families.  Sherlock Gnomes opened to 10.6M and has legged out a 4X multiple because there are no family films.  Even if it bombs below 5M OW, it still get the holiday  4 day weekend next weekend and won't be a terrible buy given the price tag.  Realistic hopes for this weekend, Deadpool 2 135M (won't be enough for it to get a 2X multipler for the game), Book Club 18M (solid buy), Show Dogs 8M (solid buy), 50%+ drops for last weekends openers which I didn't keep.  I also bet max on Book Club for Showdown.

I think 2.0 is too tough to get with these $100+ million Blockbuster titles. I think 1.8 would be really good. Deadpool 2 could do 140-150 this weekend and will drop hard next weekend, but benefits from the extra holiday day. I'm sure that's why so many kept it.

1.8 would't be disastrous, but I think a better return can be made going with other movies.  Usually that's the case, not always.

Wow, Book Club was underestimated by 1M and ended up winning the showdown.
