Sooo. Spielberg's The Post, Nolan's Dunkirk, Anderson's Phantom Thread, Wright's The Darkest Hour, that Florida Project movie. Those would be the obvious Best Pic noms.  What am I missing?

I don't think the popular stuff - Wonder Woman, Get Out, etc. - have a chance of winning, but they definitely have a chance of being nominated. And Bigelow's Detroit and Linklater's Last Flag Flying seems to have died on the vine...

I think Three Billboards and Shape of Water both have a shot.  They're also the two "Oscar" movies I'm actually interested in seeing.

I'll also be really happy for Wonder Woman and Logan for any and all nominations that come their way.

Really hope Dafoe finally gets a BSA for Florida Project. One of his best turns.

No real surprises here, save for the dismissal of Franco and The Disaster Artist (mostly). I think the four acting categories are pretty much already decided anyway. Picture will be a nail-biter between Shape of Water and Three Billboards. I think that race could allow an underdog to sneak in (maybe Dunkirk). I do hope Dunkirk takes a lot of its creative nominations. Nice to see Vincent in the animation category, though its chances are probably pretty thin. And with no directing nod for McDonagh, del Toro probably has that one locked as well.

You should definitely check out Get Out!  We saw it for the first time recently, and it was pretty good, if predictable.  Lots of fun.
