Yep, but it reached #1 in ticket sales on Movietickets.com last night. DORY didn't make it there until Wednesday of release week, FWIW.

I don't think anything would hurt its open but the holdovers will likely be steeper if WOM is as bad as reviews.

In the meantime, Sausage Party is at 100%?!?

I think the days of the mega-opener having any kind of legs is more or less over, though. Sure, STAR TREK and BOURNE didn't have big second day drops, but each had a 60% drop on the 2nd weekend. One was very well reviewed, the other wasn't. SQUAD confirms we're in the era of hyper-saturation, where it's opening day, not even opening weekend, that makes or breaks a movie!

Sure, when you open at 6pm on Thursday you have to assume there will likely be a decent drop from "day 1" to day 2. but there may still be information to be gained by the analyzing magnitude vis a vis perceived quality:

SS: -40.6%
BvS: -37.9%
Deadpool: -10.2% (and a Sunday increase)
Guardians: -18.1%
CA-CW: -18.9%

Or just DC v MCU Roll Eyes
